  1. Weekend

It's weekend, dh has taken the boys out for the second day in a row so that I have time to do whatever I want without feeling drawn into the roles of mom, housekeeper or anything other than just me. He rented the full second season of "Medium" for me. It's really nice to be given the space to let go of "duty".

Luca didn't want dinner last night. He came downstairs with quiet tears in his eyes, saying he needed private time and wasn't going to have dinner. All he wanted was rice milk. He wasn't even enticed by mentioning his favourite foods. By the time that Josh and I sat down for dinner, Luca wanted to go to bed. Ohhhkay... something isn't quite right there. "I think I am in big love with Laura", he says. "And I think she's in secret...

This afternoon I will have six young lads varying in age from 5 to 7 running through the house and yard. I hope more yard than house will be explored, because it's a beautiful day. It's going to be fun to hear their laughter and car and airplane sounds, their pecking order squabbles... they're always so completely independent when they've got friends over. But ouch when it is time to clean up!

    *edited to add the aftermath...
    Wasn't I a regular Martha Stewart!...
  5. What's going on??

They've been feeling out of sorts. My patience is wearing thin, though I also feel equal amounts of compassion for their obvious discomfort. Big bags under their eyes - their bags have luggage of their own. *shakes head*. It's as though there's this fog in their heads. Perhaps it's the cold that they appear to have caught; it's not easy for them to describe "sinus fog". Alternatively, we've had such stupidly busy months that it could even be their way of...
